Blue cat average is 30 to 60 pounds, some top 100 pounds flat heads 20 to 40 pounds and lots of channel cat. And the Mississippi river is just 35 minutes from Washington". Trolling, using planer board, planer bobber, side planer board, mini planer board to catch bass, catfish, walleye, perch, crappie, stripers, from a boat or while walking the bank of lakes, rivers, canals, ponds will produce big bass, big catfish, whoppin walleye, big perch, striped bass.

Trolling speeds may vary for each species you are fishing for. Ultimate strikes occur when planer is out to port or stbd sides of boat. All fish swim around an approaching boat. The trolling zone for primary strikes will be off to left or right sides of boat. Mini planer boards move out quickly and optimal usage range is 30 feet to 80 feet. but, can be used out further away if desired.


The Secondary trolling strike zone is way back behind transom of boat. Fish will go out around when passing by then, SOME return to there original spots after boat passes. Figure 150 feet or more for optimal secondary strike zone.

Smallmouth bass, a favorite for many trolling fisherman enjoy both open water thermocline feeding and hole structured bottoms. Both sandy and rock, bass trolling rules are same as above mentioned strike zones.

Catfishing, huge catfish are caught on planer bobbers while trolling and contolled drift fishing. Shallow & deep water, From the shore and from boats.
