Raising The Bar
Record ~ so far ~ OHIO ~ on Jicky Joe 57 Topwater ACTION lure.
planerbobber.com member "basshole" has video and pic showing a fat healthy largemouth bass caught on a jicky_joe 57.

Caught @ Ohio Power ~ aep recreational land.
The only type of measurement / wieght is by visual
and a recorded voice on video saying" 2 1/2 - 3 .... and then a honest reiteration of 3 lbs. So, we feel this is a legitamte fat 3lb bass to put on the record book.

What do you have in your tackle box?

Big Bass Fishing: Lake Norman ~ Walking the shore ~ Trolling Bass Fishing Methods

Bass Fishing TROLLING ~ Planer Bobbers
Just Returned from North Carolina.
Made a short stop over @ Lake Norman to catch a bass. After a drive to walmart for fishing "insurance"( a 10 day license),
I made my way over to the public fishing area just south of the power station.

You know. right there just west of MIDWAY Bait & Tackle.

There is a 300 yards strip of rip rap that you can walk the entire length from atop the bank.
After much ado trying out different lures with the planer bobber, I found that the good ole rubber worm was what the Largemouth bass wanted.

Set the planer bobber quick release @ about 10-12 feet,
slowly walk the entire length of the rip rap from the walkway path above.
Right away, I started getting hits.
The more agressive I got with moving the planer bobber ,
pulling then letting worm sink to bottom, the bigger the strikes became.

Landed a NICE 3- 3 1/2 lb large mouth as well.
I was able to fish every inch of the public fishing area with the greatest of ease.

Bass Fishing
Trolling ~ Thats what Im talkin'bout~
To catch largemouth or smallmouth bass using planer bobbers it is important to use the right lure or bait. Listed in this article are many ways to use planer bobbers to enhance your ultimate big bass fishing experience. Here is an example. Bass large or small seem to like the presentation the planer bobber offers using a texas rig with powerbait rubber worms all depths.
River based small mouth bass like presentation of shallow diver 1-2 feet below the surface when trailed by planer bobber

Trolling for smallmouth bass in areas like Dale Hollow Tennessee are ideal ways to catch huge smallmouth bass. With planer bobbers you can rig for port or stbd trolling with a 1-20 foot leader to find the depth of schooling smallmouth bass, put out one planer bobber @ 10 foot depth and another @ 20 foot depth.

Use 8-12 foot rapala medium diver lure or deep diver lure also smallmoth bass love artificial grub rig on planer bobber In finger coves you can control drift, troll for large mouth bass using planer bobbers and again the texas rig with powerbait rubber worms using about 10 foot leader or whatever the depth may be in the cove.Controlled drifting and trolling both sides of the boat for large mouth bass mechanical rapala lure on side away from shore works great with planer bobber for catching bass .

Bass fishing with planer bobbers in this manner yield a catch more often perhaps because the presentation is no longer behind the boat .
Bass tend to go out around a passing trolling boat unaware that the planer bobber is trailing a lure or bait on the port starboard sides of your boat .
River bank fishing for bass both largemouth and smallmouth bass has become alot easier to do with the planer bobber .
Now you can walk the bank cast out and to a pinpoint spot the current will hold the planer bobber in place in the middle of the river or far sides of the river or close to shore.

Find the big bass largemouth and smallmouth with planerbobber.
Current helps hold it in place on the surface and lets your lure float or dive where you want it to be finding deep pockets structure a fallen tree on the surface? GREAT!
The planer bobber can be postitioned in front of the fallen tree, the lure or bait will be taken under the tree where the fish are waiting for a meal. With the adjustable quick relaese you can place the lure however many feet needed away from the planer bobber to get the exact spot you want for catching that lunker bass

Excersise while bass fishing ~ Now you can walk the bank in both directions go all the way around that pond or lake with planer bobber pulling power it remains out away from the bank up to 100 feet .

North Carolina lakes and reserviours planer bobbers are made for bass fishing largemouth and smallmouth lunkers as well as striper fishing. Walleye fishing catfishing crappie fishing pike musky most all species of fish can be caught on planer bobbers. Trolling for bass trolling for walleye trolling for catfish trolling for stripers trolling for pike trolling for musky controlled drifting for big bass controlled drifting for ultimate bass catches ultimate largemouth bass ultimate smallmouth bass using planer bobber during controlled drifting and trolling makes a difference for catching whopper big bass on planer bobbers
Basshole fishin with planer bobbers

The basshole pockets can be found using planer bobber s pinpoint the basshole letting out line as the planer bobber runs with current moving outward as you let out line Place planer bobber and rig directly over large bolders down deep or shallow Thats a basshole. Bass holes can be found where rivers narrow and current slows down after the rapids area in rivers or canals
Most rivers usually have anywheres from 8-15 feet drop offs after the rapids in a narrowing area of a river .
A perfect spot to drop in a planer bobber for big bass smallmouth bass school and feed often in these areas.
After a heavy rain try culverts for both smallmouth and largemouth bass both near the culvert and where the culvert discharges into the main river use a planer bobber in both of these areas .
A hungry bass is just waiting for a meal here Texas rig a powerbait rubber worm on your planer bobber with a 3-6 foot leader .
The quick release function on the planer bobber works great You will be fighting The Big Bass on the line, not the planer bobber.
Fish day or night with the planer bobber for big bass you will always know where your line is if night fishing with the planer bobber it glows in the dark.

Use glow in the dark planer bobbers in ponds lakes rivers canals bays or inlets big fish swim and feed at night .
Dont be fooled by calm night time waters big bass and huge stripers are just below the surface feeding on bait fish .
A planer bobber and and a small rapala minnow 1 to 2 inches long shallow diver can be trailed behind a glow top planer bobber at night with surprising results
Also throw your cast net Castnets will get live minnows to trail behind a planer bobber .
Again at night this method produces huge strikes Normally the planer bobber begins to move slowly after bait or lure has been taken by a striper or bass Warning expect the fish to be huge. Have your net ready. The fish may be so big lipping the big bass or striper may be frightening
Ultimate night time fishing with planer bobber. Ultimate bass Ultimate stripers ultimate big fish will be found using planer bobber and a trailing lure or bait. Cast out planer and rig up to 75 feet walk the bank and let the planer drift up to about 3 minutes. Then reel in or walk the bank a little more repeat the drifting process. Bass Fishing TROLLING ~ Planer Bobbers
One Rule. And it is important!!!
for artificial bait users,
Fishing bottom or thermokline~
Try dark color lure or rubber worms first!!
The bass largemouth or smallmouth tend to feel more safe at night and are not quite as on gaurd with dark colors. They are going more for the vibration. If they see a bright color on the bottom it seems to scare them off a bit.

Top water seems to have no preference. I usully throw top just to wake them up a bit, then go deep.

Comments welcome

Big Bass Fishing: Bass Fishing Florida fresh water canals

Bass Fishing Stories and Adventures
While vacationing in Palm Coast, Florida, as usual, I was looking for places to catch big largemouth bass. Palm Coast is packed chualk full with fresh water canals.
For me, the location must be accesible from the road 1st, or visible walking distance from the road with access to a canal for "from the bank "fishing.
I found a spot where I could fish from a bridge as well as from the bank on both sides with legal parking along side of the road.
This spot had a good amount of current running underneath of the bridge as well as some depth on the east side of the bridge.
